Jordan Young was a part of the most memorable postseason run in the history of CSI Athletics as he helped lead the Dolphins all the way to the Sweet 16 in the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Tournament.  However, this is just one of many accolades that makes him one of the greatest players to ever take the court for the College of Staten Island.

Young’s Dolphins career began during the 2008-2009 season, and it immediately became clear that CSI had uncovered a special talent.  As a freshman, Young averaged nearly 16 points and seven rebounds per game and won CUNYAC Rookie of the Year.  Though the Dolphins only won six games that season, it was apparent that they had found a player that could help the team jumpstart the rebuilding process.

During his sophomore season, Young and the Dolphins doubled their win total from the previous year.  Young also led the Dolphins in scoring and rebounding, setting career-highs in both statistics.  Young was selected as a CUNYAC All-Star that season, and the Men’s Basketball program was poised to take the next step the following year.

During the 2010-2011 season, Young and the Dolphins once again improved their win total.  Young also shot above the 60% mark for the first time in his career and was selected as a CUNYAC All-Star for the second time.  The team would ultimately come up just short in the CUNYAC Championship that season, but with an infusion of new talent, CSI would win the ECAC Championship in 2011.  This set the stage for a historic postseason run the following year.

Young’s senior season saw the team’s win total jump all the way to 26 and the Dolphins won the CUNYAC Championship in a thriller over Medgar Evers.  This sent the Dolphins to the NCAA Tournament where the team got the opportunity to host a pair of home games, both of which they won to earn a spot in the Sweet 16.  CSI’s season would end there in the final game of Young’s career, but the NCAA tournament run served as a fitting end for one of the most decorated players in program history.

The three-time CUNYAC All-Star would finish his career averaging 16.8 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, but his time with the Dolphins was not yet finished.  One year after his playing days concluded, Young returned to the team as Assistant Coach under Tony Petosa.  Alongside his former coach, Young played a pivotal role in fostering a culture of excellence that produced a 28-win season in 2013-2014, his first year on the coaching staff.

An important player on the most memorable team in the history of the CSI Men’s Basketball program, Young still ranks among the program’s all-time leaders in points scored with 1,764 and in rebounds with 792.  However, his influence has since extended far beyond his on-court accomplishments, and he enters the Hall of Fame as one of the most well-respected figures in the history of CSI Athletics.
