DOLPHINS FALL IN ECC OPENER TO REDHAWKS

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island women's soccer team opened East Coast Conference (ECC) play Saturday afternoon at Dolphin Soccer Park. After the Dolphins took an early lead in the first half, the Redhawks pulled even before halftime and added two more goals in the second half to hand CSI a 3-1 defeat.

The Redhawks applied early pressure with four shots in the opening 20 minutes, and shortly after their fourth attempt, Millie Hunt gained control on the right side and lofted a shot over the keeper to give Roberts Wesleyan a 1-0 lead midway through the first half.

By the 34th minute, the score was even at 1-1, but after halftime Roberts Wesleyan regained control and maintained its offensive edge.

Dolphins goalkeeper Brianna Dore came up with key saves to keep the match level, but after a yellow card against the hosts, the Redhawks capitalized to take a 2-1 lead and eventually led to the 3-1 Dolphins defeat.

Dore ended the day with 5 saves while Hunt, Phoebe Ossola, and Riley Hammond tallied a shot each.

The women's soccer (1-3-1/0-1 ECC) team will return to Dolphins Soccer Park on Wednesday, Sept. 24, to continue conference play with Molloy University at 1:00 PM.
