Joining the Dolphins' staff in March of 2018, Angel Solis, Jr. is getting set to start working with the CSI's newest varsity sport of Track & Field, beginning as a Club team in 2018. Solis brings a vast knowledge of the sport with him to CSI, and hopes to help CSI bridge the gap as it matures into varsity status in time for the 2018-19 school year.
Solis began his coaching career back in 2009, as an assistant coach with Bergen Community College. Theire, he specifically trained athletes in middle and long-distance events, jumps, relays and hurdles. He was also relied upon to coordinate off-season, in-seaqson, and postseason workout programs and recruiting, bringing a year-round feel to the BCC program.
In 2015, Solis became the head coach at the Paulo Freire Charter School in Newark, NJ, where his role has blossomed to include biomechanics of running and jumping as well as assisting in the academic pursuits of his students. Solis doubled as a Physical Education teacher while at PFCS and is will be a Special Education teacher at the Marion P. Thomas Charter School of Culinary and Performing Arts in Newark beginning in August.
Solis started his studies at Bergen Community College where he was a member of the Student Government Council while starring on the college's Track & Field program, where he was a national All-American in the 4x100 event. He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Health & Physiccal Education from Montclair State University and will achieve his Master's Degree in Education Leadership, also from Montclair State, this summer.
