Dr. Michael A. Zacchilli

Michael Zacchilli, MD, is an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell, and has taken on the role of team doctor at the College of Staten Island in September of 2018.  

A board certified, fellowship-trained sports medicine surgeon based in Manhattan at the Orthopaedic Institute at Lenox Hill Greenwich Village, Dr. Zacchilli graduated with honors from Harvard University and the University of Massachusetts Medical School.  He completed his orthopedic residency as a distinguished graduate with the United States Army before pursuing his sports medicine fellowship at the NYU-Langone Hospital for Joint Diseases.  Following residency, he served as an orthopedic Surgeon in the U.S. Army at Fort Bragg, where he cared for airborne and special operations soldiers, completed three deployments, and was selected for assignment with the Joint Special Operations Command.  

His clinical interests include minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery (shoulder, knee, hip, and elbow,) ligament reconstruction, tendon repair, cartilage restoration/transplantation, and joint preservation.  As a former NCAA division I athlete, the son of two hall of fame coaches, and a youth sports coach himself, Dr. Zacchilli takes great pride in providing medical care for athletes from an athlete’s perspective.  As a member of the CSI Athletics team, he offers urgent evaluation and treatment, imaging, and surgical consultation to CSI student-athletes, coaches, and training staff.
