The College of Staten Island Athletic Department has named former Post University Head Coach Tracey Garofalo as its new softball head coach and student-athlete academic success coordinator.  Garofalo will join the unit as it prepares for the fall portion of their season, and will assume operation of the facility's Academic Success Center, assisting CSI's entire student-athlete body.
 
"I'm extremely excited to welcome Tracey and her family to our Dolphin family," said Athletic Director T.J. Tibbs. "Tracey stood out from the beginning as someone who has incredible alignment with what we do here.  She has amazing energy and a passion for her academic success role which she has had a great impact in the past.  Tracey will elevate our efforts to support academic success and student-athlete growth. On the field, I look forward to her teams taking on her identity as we continue to build as a division 2 program.  The committee led by Erin Van Nostrand and Michael Ackalitis did a superb job along with strong support from others".
 
Garofalo was the Head Coach of the Post University Softball Team for 15 seasons, where she helped develop an Eagles unit that improved in a host of offensive and defensive categories throughout her tenure. Garofalo's primary responsibilities included devising game strategies and scouting, along with comprehensive recruiting in-line to meet the University's academic and athletic thresholds.  She is very excited to be closer to home, helping champion what is now a budding NCAA Division II program at the College of Staten Island.

As CSI's Student-Athlete Academic Success Coordinator, Garofalo will be charged with monitoring and administering programs that assist the entire student-athlete body in maintaining good academic standing and successful progress towards degree requirements. These include academic tracking and progress reports, institution and monitoring of Study Hall, and academic advising specific for student-athletes.  For Garofalo, the responsibilities go hand-in-hand with contributing to student-athlete success and well-being.  She plans to lead CSI Softball into their second season of competition at the NCAA Division II level.
 
Drawing upon her extensive coaching experience, Garofalo is eager to lead the growth of CSI Softball and help usher in a return to normalcy for the program.  "My previous 15 years of coaching at the collegiate level have prepared me to take this next step at CSI," she said. "Everyone is excited to be back to some type of normalcy.  I am looking forward to meeting the team in person and getting to know them.  This is truly an honor and privilege to be a part of the College of Staten Island and the culture they are building here."
 
Garofalo also brings in the NCAA compliance world at the Division II levels.  She served as assistant athletic director of academic success at Post University alongside her coaching duties.
