College of Staten Island Athletics

Nick Italiano of the Men’s Cross Country team has been named College of Staten Island’s Male Athlete of the Month for October 2010. As a freshman runner, his time got better with every race and he has led the team in finishes throughout the season.

On October 3^rd, at the Lehman Invitational, Italiano completed in 88^th place with a time of 34:43.24. The following week in the Brooklyn Invitational the rookie helped CSI to a 10^th place finish with a time of 34.14.09. In New Jersey City University’s 5K run he finished in 3^rd place with a time of 16.58. In CSI’s Invitational, Italiano bettered his time by two minutes (32:15.06) and helped the Dolphins to their best finish of the season in 7^th.

On October 31, in the CUNYAC Championships, Italiano finished in 23^rd place with his best time ever at 32.02. CSI placed 8^th, the first time ever the men’s cross country team placed in the championships.
