College of Staten Island Athletics Compliance

The Role of Athletic Compliance

Welcome to the College of Staten Island student-athletes, prospective student-athletes, coaches, administrators, and community members!

Your interest and support in CSI athletics is greatly appreciated!  The purpose of this page is to assist your understanding of various NCAA, and East Coast Conference (ECC) and Northeast 10 (NE10 - Swimming & Diving) rules that may affect you.  All NCAA legislation cannot be covered in a limited space such as this, therefore any additional questions should be forwarded to the Compliance Office in the Department of Athletics.  You are encouraged to always ask before you act!

CSI is committed to the principles of institutional control in operating its athletics programs through the development and implementation of appropriate institutional policies and procedures, an effective education program, and a functioning monitoring program.  Each individual involved in intercollegiate athletics is obligated to maintain competency with respect to knowledge of the rules; to act within his or her realm of responsibility in full compliance with the governing legislation; and to report any violation of NCAA, conference, and/or institutional rules of which he or she is aware.

The Compliance Office is responsible for coordinating, monitoring, and verifying compliance with all NCAA, ECC, NE10 and College of Staten Island rules and regulations and to educate the various constituencies of the College (e.g. coaches, administrators, faculty, student-athletes, prospects, alumni) and the College community regarding these rules and regulations.  It is important that all persons involved in CSI athletics understand and comply with our commitment to these rules and regulations as they are essential to maintaining the integrity of CSI.

If you are looking to try out for a varsity team, then you should contact that respective team's head coach for information on possible tryout opportunities. Thanks again for your interest and support of CSI Athletics. #FearTheFin!
