COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND ATHLETICS

Arthur Kapetanakis

Former CUNYAC men's tennis standout Arthur Kapetanakis enters his third full campaign as CSI's Men's and Women's Tennis Head Coach, having taken over just days before the men's tennis season in 2015. Across five combined seasons, Kapetanakis has posted a 47-34 overall record, with an impressive 23-9 mark in CUNYAC.

His full-time duties at the college include work as a Facilities Supervisor at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center, and he also contributes as a Gameday Media Assistant for the Sports Information office.

In his first season at the helm, Kapetanakis was named CUNYAC Coach of the Year in Men's Tennis after guiding the Dolphins to a 10-4 record, flipping a 5-9 mark from the previous year. His student-athletes have also been honored as CUNYAC Player of the Year, CSI Scholar-Athlete of the Year, CUNYAC Sportswoman of the Year (2), and CUNYAC All-Stars (10+).

A Staten Island native, Kapetanakis captained the tennis squad at nearby Hunter College, where he helped lead the Hawks to a pair of championships and NCAA appearances in 2010 and 2011. Prior to that, he also captained the Tottenville High School squad to a pair of PSAL titles, going undefeated in regular season play and doubling on the soccer team as well.

In 2014, Kapetanakis served as a Volunteer Assistant Coach with the CSI Men's Tennis team and from 2012 to 2014, he was the Boys' and Girls' Assistant Coach at Riverdale Country School in the Bronx. In that role, he helped champion a boys' program that made it all the way to the 2013 Mayor's Cup, coaching eight All-Ivy League players and 10 current college athletes.

Kapetanakis is currently studying at Columbia University, where he is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Sports Management. A graduate of the Macaulay Honors College at Hunter, he holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media Studies, having minored in English and Music.
