BROOKLYN SAILS PAST CSI IN CUNY TENNIS AFFAIR

The College of Staten Island men's tennis squad fell for the second time in CUNYAC play in as many days, suffering a 9-0 defeat at the hands of powerful Brooklyn College in a conference match played earlier this afternoon at the CSI Tennis Center.  The loss downed the Dolphins to 2-9 overall this season and 1-5 in CUNYAC play.  Brooklyn excelled to 9-2, 6-1, respectively.

If one area of the match saw a more tightly-contested affair, it was doubles.  Brooklyn took all three doubles flights, but the No. 1 Doubles team of Joseph Taranto and Igor Balanovski, and the No. 3 team of Keith Siragusa and Kevin Williams, gave Brooklyn all they could handle, in identical 8-5 defeats.

When play switched to singles, Brooklyn was able to pull off every match in straight sets.  Elliot Hirsch, Ben Forberg, Morris Dweck, Metin Noorata, Johnny Rolando and Eddie Hazan all finished the match for Brooklyn with a pair of wins in both singles and doubles play.

The Dolphins, who have played three CUNYAC matches over the last four days, will get a day off on Wednesday, before returning to action Thursday, to take on NYC College of Technology at the CSI Tennis Center at 3:30pm.  The match will have certain playoff implications, as both teams are fighting to make the CUNYAC Posteason Playoffs.  Eight teams make the postseason tournament, and CSI currently sits in seventh position (1-5), while the Yellow Jackets are tied for the No. 8 spot with York College, at 0-6 in conference play.
