TENNIS SCORES SHUTOUT OVER ST. JOE'S - BROOKLYN

CSI's Taylor Moran was unscored upon in singles and doubles in CSI's lop-sided win.

The College of Staten Island women's tennis team got back on the winning track on Friday afternoon, scoring a one-sided, 9-0, decision over visiting St. Joseph's College of Brooklyn in non-conference action at the CSI Tennis Center. With the win, CSI advanced to 4-7 overall, while the Bears dipped to 0-4.

CSI scored some lop-sided wins in doubles play and essentially never looked back. The toughest match was at No. 1 Doubles, where the CSI team of Gabriella Villarruel and Fabiana Iannuzzi got passed the Bears' duo of Jess Littner and Kristin Bauman by an 8-5 count. Over at the other two doubles spots, the teams of Taylor Moran and Qing Li and Nancy Almazo and Justine Kuna scored identical, 8-0 wins. After doubles, CSI was up 3-0.

Singles went the Dolphins' way as well. Three Dolphins scored shutout wins in the 10-point games. Villarruel (No. 1), Moran (No. 2), and Kuna (No. 6) did the honors in those flights. Iannuzzi scored a 10-4 win at No. 3 while Li scored a 10-3 winner at No. 4. Finalizing the match, Almazo won a 10-3 decision at No. 5.

The Dolphins will be back in action on Tuesday, when they face Hunter College at home at 3:30pm.
