The College of Staten Island captured a 3-0 victory over the Medgar Evers Cougars on Tuesday evening's CUNYAC matchup at the CSI Sports and Recreation Center. The Dolphins earned a 2-1 conference record while stretching their overall record to 2-4. The Cougars fell to a 0-3 conference record and 0-5 overall record.
The Dolphins took the first set by a score of 25-14 starting off with a six point streak. The 25-21 second set win was close but CSI never let the Cougars take the lead. CSI took it all in set three, 25-20, after the Cougars fought hard and tied on six occasions.
Freshman
Maricor Socorro-Calleja led all-teams with nine kills.
Jennifer Samuel also had a fine performance for CSI with eight assists and a game-high eight service aces.
Pola Poskrobko added five digs and five service aces.
Medgars' Beatrice Bonhomme led her team with five kills while Grace Mercado totaled seven assists and five digs.
The Dolphins will host Mount St. Vincent on Thursday, September 15 at 7:30 pm.
