New York – It was an early morning for the CSI volleyball team as the Dolphins traveled to Manhattan for a conference tri-match against Hunter College and Brooklyn. Despite their best efforts, the College of Staten Island dropped both matches, falling 0-3 to Hunter and suffering a tough 2-3 loss to Brooklyn, Monday.

The Dolphins fell to Hunter, 0-3 with scores of 10-25, 10-25, 12-25. Â Following Hunter, CSI took on Brooklyn and dropped a tough match in five sets with scores of 17-25, 25-20, 30-32, 25-21, 11-15. After this morning's matches, the Dolphins are now 5-14 overall and sit at 2-4 in conference play.

During the morning's opening match at 8a.m., the Hawks took control of the set early on, opening with an 8-1 run before retuning the serve to the Dolphins. Hunter's run would continue throughout the first set, pushing their lead to a 16-point differential at one point and went on to win the set 25-10.

Much like the first set, the Dolphins had a bit of trouble getting into a groove, only hitting -.294, while the Hawks fired .316. to take the match, 25-10. CSI's highest point total in the third, posting 12, but despite their efforts, Hunter went on to take the match with a final score of, 25-12.

Pola Poskrobko led the way for the Dolphins, posting five kills on 20 attempts. However, Poskrobko couldn't have done it alone;
JeanMarie Lewandowski accounted for the teams total 12 assists. Not to be outshined was Loykee Wong who posted a team-high nine digs.

The Dolphins hit just -.133 for the match registering 12 attacks on 60 attempts.

In the morning's second match against Brooklyn College, the Dolphins appeared as a much more cohesive unit. CSI was looking to improve it's conference record to 3-3 and nearly managed the feat after winning sets two and four, 25-20 and 25-21, respectively.

The opening set went to Brooklyn, 25-17, as the Bulldogs out-hit the Dolphins .333 to .100. CSI improved in the second set, registering eight kills on 20 attempts, giving them a hitting percentage of .200, good enough for the win.

CSI was making a comeback after tying the score at one set apiece and the Dolphins were looking to take the lead. The third set was a battle as the two teams traded leads throughout and tying multiple times. After an intense rally, Brooklyn eventually came out the victor, finishing 32-30.

The Bulldogs, who hit .333 in the deciding set, compared to a .062 for Staten Island, came from behind to tie the score at nine. From there, BC pulled away to take the match, 15-11, after going on a six-two run.

Selma Kolenovic was the Dolphins' leader offensively, claiming her 12 kills on 29 attempts for a .310 hitting percentage. It was just her second match with double-figure kills. Adding to the offensive front was Poskrobko, who hit a team-high .350 on 10 kills and a pair of solo blocks.
Junior
Monica Concepcion had a balanced attack as she tallied a season-high10 kills, 11 digs and three service aces. Not to be forgotten was Lewandowski, who posted a team-high 29 assists and seven digs.

CSI was countered by BC's Francesca Locascio, who finished with 12 kills and a .375 hitting percentage.

The Bulldogs had the edge offensively, hitting .227 to the Dolphins' .162. CSI finished with three more attack errors than Brooklyn, 22-19. The Bulldogs, who had 119 attacks to the Dolphins 105, finished with seven more kills, 46 to 39, on the day.

Defensively, CSI was led by Wong, who had 30 digs, while
Siobhan Granich tallied 12 and Brittany Monondo added 11.
