STATEN ISLAND, NY – The Dolphins made an amazing comeback after a first set loss, but after a pair of tough fought battles, the College of Staten Island women's volleyball team succumbed to Saint Joseph's College of Long Island, 3-1, Wednesday. The score of the sets were 13-25, 25-19, 22-25, 18-25.
The Golden Eagles came out firing on all cylinders during the first set, tallying 17 kills to the Dolphins three, giving SJC a hitting percentage of .273. However, the second set was not so kind to the visitors, as that was the only set of the entire match in which CSI out hit the Eagles, hitting just .062 to SJC's -.081.
The fourth set of the evening was the best for both teams. CSI recorded its best hitting percentage of the match, with .250 percent, as the Eagles accomplished the same as they edged out CSI hitting .314 percent for the win. Â

JeanMarie Lewandowski shinned for the Dolphins, leading the team in both digs (15) and assists (13), all while adding five service aces to her stat line as well. Loykee Wong added 13 digs on the evening as well, adding to the Dolphins defense.
As a team, the Dolphins tallied just 15 kills on 73 total attempts to give them a hitting percentage of just .027 for the night. In comparison, the Eagles registered 54 kills on 153 attempts for an average hitting percentage of .137.
With tonight's game, the Dolphins are now 5-15 overall and sit at 3-4 in the CUNYAC. The team now prepares to hit the road as they face Pratt on Sat., Oct. 19 at 1 pm.
