POSKROBKO EARNS CUNYAC ALL-STAR HONORS

The College of Staten Island women's volleyball season came to a close a week ago, but the City University of New York Athletic Conference gave the Dolphins a nice postseason lift, naming junior standout Pola Poskrobko to its All-Star citations.  The junior was the offensive cornerstone to the program that battled through a very competitive regular season.

It is hard to argue Poskrobko's appointment based simply on her statistical output.  The junior tallied a team best 176 kills on 523 total attacks, leading the team with a .174 attack percentage.  The dominance did not end there.  Poskrobko tied for the team-lead with Selma Kolenovic with 53 service aces and accounted for 76 defensive digs, good for fifth on the squad.  As the team's primary middle blocker, Poskrobko added a team-best 29 total blocked, with 17 coming solo, good for second on the squad.

Unfortunately, CSI failed to make the CUNYAC postseason for the second straight year, finishing with a record of 3-20 overall.  Still, the team graduated only a single player in 2013, and stands to be even stronger for the future, with Poskrobko leading the charge.

City College of New York's Leticia Marotti was named the Conference's Player of the Year, while Brooklyn College's Julia Bogdan earned Rookie of the Year honors.  Lehman's Elvis Rodriguez took home CUNYAC Coach of the Year honors, while Brooklyn's Lisenia Rodriguez was given the Sportsmanship Award.
