JERSEY CITY, NJ – This evening the College of Staten Island women's volleyball team faced both Cedar Crest and New Jersey City University at a tri-match on the NJCU campus, where the Dolphins posted a record of 1-1, Wednesday.

However, despite the first match follies, the Dolphins did not give up. Come the second game, CSI started a bit slow as NJCU made a quick nine- point run, but the Dolphins soon returned the call and eventually turned the game around completely as they went on a five-point run to pull ahead to win the set.
Much like the first set, the Dolphins played the Knights closely throughout the set, but remained trailing by a point or two since the 4-4 score. It was a battle until the bitter end when CSI eventually broke free and went on to win set two, 25-23.
However, the Dolphins luck would change come set three as NJCU scored to take the match into a fourth set where CSI was able to pull out the win, 3-1 overall.
Leading the way for CSI's offensive attack was
Selma Kolenovic, with 10 kills and 20 attempts, hitting .300 on the night, while teammate
Pola Poskrobko tallied a team-high 12 kills on the evening and 36 attacks.
Defensively,
JeanMarie Lewandowski registered an impressive 27 digs, while
Jennifer Samuel recorded 11 digs while adding 28 assists on the night.
The women's volleyball team returns to action, Saturday, Sept. 14 as they travel to York College to face-off against conference foes, CCNY and Medgar Evers in a conference tri-match.
