NEW YORK – After making a comeback to win sets three and four, the College of Staten Island volleyball team came up short in the fifth set falling victim to Baruch College, 2-3, Tuesday.

It took the Dolphins a bit of time to get into the groove out on the floor as the Bearcats took the first two sets in a convincing manner, winning set one with a score of 25-15 and the second at 25-14. However, CSI was not about to go down without a fight.

The Dolphins took the floor for the third set and completely changed the pace of the game as they won the set, 25-22, after hitting an impressive .407 percent during the set. The impressive play of CSI continued into the fourth and while there were numerous lead changes, the Dolphins came out on top, taking the set 25-23 and pushing the match into a deciding fifth set.

In the final set of match, the intense play saw four tie scores and one lead change which eventually led to a Baruch win, despite the fact that CSI had a better hitting percentage during the final set (.286 –CSI vs. .258 – Baruch).

Leading the offensive attack for the Dolphins was
Pola Poskrobko as she hit .308 on the night (11 K – 3 E- 26 TA), while teammate
Jonaldy Edouard added 11 kills of her own for the Dolphins. In addition,
Jennifer Samuel led the team with 34 assists, while also leading the defensive attack for CSI with 17 digs.

The Dolphins return to action on Thursday when they will host John Jay College, at 7 p.m., at CSI, in their home opener.
