Players to Watch (CSI): Arianna Spears will head into tonight's match tied for the single-season CSI assist record set at 471 back in 2014 by Brittany Minondo. Spears has been crucial to the Dolphins' success this season, setting the ball into the perfect position to allow her teammates to have clean shots at opposing defenses. Benefitting from Spears' sets has been
Margaret O'Malley-Rebovich and
Francesca Castellano. O'Malley-Rebovich currently paces the team with 156 kills followed by Castellano with 142.
Jay-La Guy continues to be a nice asset at the net when paired with O'Malley-Rebovich as she sits second on the team with 38 blocks, 16 solo.Â
Players to Watch (HC): Taylor Haiduk continues to dominate her opponents and leads the Hawks with 241 kills while hitting .232. Miranda Hogan sits atop the Hawks' leaderboard with 642 assists and has also found success while serving, tallying a team-high 33 service aces. Marlena Budna has been troublesome for opposing hitters, tallying 75 blocks with 20 of them being solo blocks.Â
News & Notes: The Hawks have owned this series dating back to 1987. Hunter has never lost to Staten Island and has also never dropped a set, sweeping the Dolphins in every meeting. As of late, the Dolphins have struggled, winning just once in their last five matches. Hunter has been the complete opposite winning four of their last five. Out of those four wins, the Hawks have swept three of them.
