Montclair, NJ | The College of Staten Island women's soccer team traveled to Montclair, NJ to take on Montclair University in non-conference action tonight. The Dolphins looked to continue their win streak however the Red Hawks of Montclair stifled the Dolphins' attack all night. Staten Island was unable to find the back of the net in a 5-0 loss in Montclair. The loss drops the Dolphins down to 7-6 overall while Montclair improved to 8-2-3.
Samantha LaValle tested Phoebe Bledsoe just four minutes into the game and Bledsoe was able to come up with the save. The Red Hawks' defense was able to keep LaValle in check the rest of the night as that opening shot was her lone shot of the game.
Just three minutes later the Red Hawks opened up scoring when Michaela Knoblock found some room and was able to blast her shot past
Kaila DiBenedetto. That goal opened the floodgates as Montclair would score two more goals in quick succession.
Holding a 3-0 lead in the first half the Red Hawks kept possession of the ball, keeping it away from the Dolphins which limited their attacks. DiBenedetto did come up with some big saves to keep the score from getting out of control late in the first half.
Once the second half started Montclair added a pair of goals to increase their lead to 5-0 over the Dolphins, however, the Dolphins created some chances in the second half.
Adrianna Parello finished the game with four shots, all of which were on target, but none of which found the back of the net.
CSI continued to take their shots in the second half to finish the game with 10 shots, seven of which hit their mark. DiBenedetto finished the game with 10 saves while
