Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island men's tennis team successfully countered a three-game skid with what is now a two-game win streak, winning their home opener by a 7-2 count at the CSI Tennis Center against Brooklyn College in their home opener.  The win evened CSI to 3-3 overall and 2-2 within the CUNYAC, while the Bulldogs fell to 2-3, 1-1, respectively.

The Dolphins got off to a great start in doubles play, sweeping all three events to get themselves off on solid footing.  In the top-spot, Andrew Adia and Alex Tsui ground out a razor-tight and back-and-forth, 9-7, win over BC's Rohan Mathur and Justin Vazquez.  That complemented a pair of one-sided wins at the Nos. 2-3 spots for CSI.  In the No. 2 spot, Raymond Hwang and Matthew Vesci went up from the start and took an 8-1 win over Julian Calame-Mars and Jonathan Kim.  One step lower, David Luo and Tao Lin were just as crisp, attacking early and often in an 8-1 win over Arie Monas and Binyamin Abramowitz.

The great  doubles play spilled over into Singles, and there, CSI took four of the six flights, many in dominating fashion.  Lin scored a 6-1, 6-0, win at the No. 6 spot over Kevin Gryka and at No. 5  Tsui followed with a 6-4, 6-0 over Abranowitz.  Luo was also efficient and posted a 6-2, 6-0, win over Monas at No. 4.  CSI finished off the one-sided play with a 6-3, 6-4 hard-fought win over Calame-Mars at No. 3.

Brooklyn was able to counter in singles with two wins, both in the top spot.  In the top spot, it was Vasquez getting by Hwang by a 6-3, 6-3, score while at No. 2, Mathur was a big winner over Adia, 6-1, 6-0.

CSI will look to stay hot when they travel to Farmingdale State College on Friday, April 13, for a non-conference match beginning at 4:30pm.
