Players to Watch (CSI): Francesca Castellano continues to pace CSI with 61 kills, and she also leads defensively with 95 digs, 28 more than the next Dolphin.  Margaret O'Malley-Rebovich is really stepping into the spotlight in her second season.  She is second on the team with 56 kills, and she has done it on just 133 attempts good for a .346 attack percentage, easily the best on the team.  A cog in the middle, she is also tops on the team with 19 blocks, eight more than any other Dolphins player.  Caitlin Esposito registered 10 kills on Thursday against John Jay and she now has 31 on the season.  Jay-La Guy lends in with 26.  Defensively look for Cassidy Iannariello to be a main key with 67 digs and Liliana Vasquez has earned more time at Libero as well.  Arianna Spears has been the dynamo as setter, leading the way with 174 helpers
Players to Watch (BC): The Bulldogs are being paced at the top by both Michaela Appel and Ezri Shor.  Appel leads all with 40 kills on 136 attempts, and is also the leader with 12 service aces this season and blocks with three.  Shor is next in line with 35 kills and a team-best .295 attack percentage.  She is also second on the team with 30 digs.  Yana Shaposhnikova is tops on the team defensively with 37 digs on the back line, while Megan Ortiz-Mengedoht leads all players with six total blocks.  It's a team effort when it comes to setting for Brooklyn.  Shor is the leader with 43 assists and Claudia Moi is next with 41, ahead of Kate Meltsin, who has 31.
Players to Watch (OW): The Panthers' balanced attack is led by Joelle Desrosiers' 43 kills on 98 attacks, good for a robust .388 attacking percentage.  She has also posted six service aces and leads the team with 13 total blocks, eight of them solo.  Daesha Garrison is next best on the squad with 22 kills on 74 chances, and she is fourth on the team with 31 digs defensively.  Kristin Grieshaber is the catalyst defesively with 59 digs, putting up quality passes to Kyraleigh Zinnel, who leads the team with 58 assists.
News & Notes: The series between CSI and both Brooklyn and Old Westbury have been good ones and all teams have been up and down in the series.  Against Brooklyn, CSI was steadying the series, but the Bulldogs have now won 10 in a row in the series since 2010.  Only two of those 10 meetings have been on Staten Island, but Brooklyn has taken the last six matches in straight-sets.  CSI still holds an all-time 8-6 record over Brooklyn in matches played at Staten Island.  Although they are conference rivals, today's contest against Brooklyn will not count towards the CUNYAC standings.  These two teams will meet again as part of conference play on October 8 at Medgar Evers College as part of a CUNYAC Tri-match.  Against Old Westbury, CSI has taken three of the last four meetings, but Old Westbury did get the better of CSI last season in a five-set showdown at Old Westbury.  It broke a CSI three-game winning streak in the series between 2014-16.  Prior to that, Old Westbury had won seven straight in the series between 2003-11.  The Dolphins are raising funds today for CaringKind .  CaringKind is a NYC based leading non-profit organization that provides free programs and services to those with Alzheimer's or Dementia and their families or caregivers.  All money raised from the baked sales fundraiser will be donated to the cause.
