Staten Island, NY | On a day when the Dolphins honored their two seniors, CSI could not outperform visiting John Jay College, falling at the CSI Tennis Center, 9-0. The loss dipped the Dolphins to 0-9 on the season, while the Bloodhounds lifted to 6-3.
Prior to the start of the match CSI honored their two four-year seniors,
Tristiana Adragna and
Hannah Bruschi. Both have been fixtures on the team since their freshmen campaigns, and concluded their decorated careers at home for the final time.
Play started with Doubles, and John Jay was able to take three flights all by 8-1 scores. Mariana Rodriguez and Gabrielle Schuck were able to take down Bruschi and Adragna in the No. 1 spot, while the No. 2 spot of Briana Schmidt and Kayla Hanky did the same to CSI's
Mariah DeGuia and
Madison Baialardo. In was the same score at No. 3 where
Iris Cule and
Lorianna Fernandez were upended by JJC's Angelica Lozano and Kellie Murtha.
JJC was able to sweep play in Singles as well, and scored a pair of tougher wins at Nos. 5-6. In the No. 5 spot, Claya Aylin Wilhelm was able to outlast Baialardo, 6-2, 6-3, while at No. 6 Cristina Peralta was able to slide by Cule, 6-3, 6-3.
CSI has three matches left, the first is on Sunday, October 13, against St. Joseph's College on Long Island, on the road at 12 Noon. CSI will have two other matches, make-ups of previous rain-outs at York College and Brooklyn College.
