The College of Staten Island Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving teams continue their seasons this afternoon when they face Mount Saint Mary College at the CSI Sports & Recreation Center at 12 Noon.
CSI VS MT. ST. MARY COLLEGE AT -A-GLANCE
Matchup:Â CSIM (1-0), CSIW (1-0) vs Mount St. Mary (0-0)
Where:Â Sports and Recreation Center - 2800 Victory Boulevard, Staten Island, NYÂ
Last Meeting:Â November 3, 2018 - CSIM won, 102-94 and MSMWÂ won 124-46
Players to Watch (CSI):Â CSI got some great performances last time out from familiar faces
Lisnette Solano,
Gabriella Bartley, and
Cecelia Mauro, and they will look to keep the Dolphins involved throughout the meet. The addition of great new talent certainly helped the team last weekend, and look for Dierdre McCafferty to try and pick up where she left off, breaking a CSI and pool record in the 200-yard Butterfly last time out. Kathleen Bridgeman and
Sabella Vaserman will also look to guide the Dolphins. On the men's side,
Michael Stora and
Peter Carle are CSI's top returners and both looked good last weekend flanked by returning talent like
Sami Jindyeh and
Michael Blacharski. Newcomer
Chris Ivanov was dominant last week, along with divers
Xavier Nicholson and
Thomas Bridgman, who hope to continue their impressive performances on the boards.
News & Notes:  Today marks the third meeting all time between the Dolphins and Knights. The CSI Men are 1-1 against MSM, losing to MSM by 11 points two years ago, and then winning last year in another slim result, 102-94. On the women's side, MSM has been dominant, winning last year's battle by a wide margin, 124-46, and winning in 2017 as well, 150-54. Needless to say, CSI will try and shrink that gap considerably here this afternoon.
What's Next?: CSI will continue at home late next week when they host York College on Friday, November 8, at 5 pm at the Sports & Recreation Center, in what will be their first match against CUNYAC competition. As for MSM, they will travel to face Sarah Lawrence College at 1:30 pm, next Saturday, November 9.
