Staten Island, NY | The College of Staten Island Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving teams are now each 3-0 following a pair of decisive victories over York College. The Cardinals fall to 0-2 on both the men's and women's side to start their 2019-2020 season while the Dolphins make it a perfect 21-0 all-time against York.
WOMEN'S MEET
The Dolphins built a sizable lead early and never looked back as they took win in each of the first five events before York earned their first individual win in the 100-yard butterfly. However, the deficit had already grown too large at this point and the Dolphins took each of the next three events to add to their advantage on the scoreboard.
York would earn their second victory of the night in the 100-yard breaststroke, but that first-place finish would be their last as the Dolphins took the meet by a final score of 119-54. Leading the way for the Dolphins were
Sabella Vaserman and
Deirdre McCafferty each with a pair of individual wins. CSI also took the victory in both relays as well on their way to their third straight victory to open the season.
MEN'S MEET
The performance of the men in their half of the meet was an even more dominant one than that of the women as they men took the top spot in every event to go along with a pair of relay victories.
Michael Stora,
Michael Blacharski,
Chris Ivanov and
Peter Carle all took the top spot in two individual events in the 135-40 CSI victory.
The women are right back in the pool tomorrow against Hunter College while the men are back in action one week from tonight against Baruch when they will compete alongside the women once again.
