Williamsville, NY – In game two of a conference double header, on a brisk Saturday afternoon, The College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team played in their seventh East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup of the season, picking up a road loss against the Wildcats of Daemen College, 3-0. The loss drops the Dolphins record to 3-12-1 overall and 2-4-1 in the ECC. The win for the Wildcats improves their overall record to 7-4-1 and 6-0-1 in the ECC. CSI will have two more ECC matchups left that will wrap up their season, both at home in the coming final couple of weeks of the season.
KEY MOMENTS
The Dolphins held their own against the ECC undefeated Wildcats onslaught on the offensive end. The Wildcats tallied 13 shots in the first half alone, though, only five were on-goal and one got through. It was a goal scored by Tatyjana Scalisi who stuck it high and away of the outreached arms of CSI's goalie,
Sara Villacres, that put Daemen up, 1-0. Villacres saved the other four shots on-goal and kept it a one-goal game at halftime. Meanwhile, CSI's
Jenna Como accounted for all three Dolphin shots in the first period, two of which were on-goal. The Wildcats continued their offensive pressure in the second half, 10 minutes into the start, Daemen would tack on two more goals in under 90 seconds between them, pushing the Wildcats lead to, 3-0. The Dolphins were forced to play defensive for most of the second half, as Daemen posted an additional 15 shots in the period before a final of, 3-0.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Dolphins felt the wrath of a top tier team in the ECC as they were outshot, 28-5 (14-3 shots-on-goal), yet they held their own as a defensive unite. Corners were in favor of Daemen, 5-1. CSI tallied 11 saves for the game, tied for their second most on the season.
DOLPHINS OF THE GAME
Jenna Como was the most aggressive, registering all three shots, two on-goal, that were taken by CSI in the first half of play. Kolleen Rodriguez and Gorret Komouhendo took the other two shots for the Dolphins, that were hard to come by, especially in the second half. CSI goalkeeper, Sara Villacres, faced the most shots of the season at 28, saving 11 of them.
