Staten Island, NY | Week two yielded a lot of interesting storylines as part of ECAC competition, and week three promises to build on that as CSI looks to get back on track in some games, and continue their string of dominance in others.  This week's preview also includes the debut of ECC competition for the spring semester, as CSI will square off in the ECC Rocket League on Tuesday.  Check out the entirety of the schedule this week below and be show to come back on Friday for a full rundown of results.
 

MONDAY, FEBRUARY 15, 2021

SUPER SMASH BROS. ULTIMATE | Nintendo Switch

Notes:	Both teams enter the match-up undefeated, sporting a 2-0 record with 17 other teams in the ECAC. Last week the CSI Dolphins played their first full game in a convincing victory over The College of Saint Rose's Golden Knights SSBU team, 2-0. Bethel College won their contest last week against Johnson & Wales SSBU White team, 2-1. Like CSI, Bethel only has one team in the SSBU ECAC competition that is comprised of 83 total teams. After this week's competition, only one school will come out of this one, 3-0 with four other teams. Last week CSI's Nicholas Lam (ToonNick) eliminated seven straight Golden Knight's SSBU players and will be looking to continue his onslaught in week three.

   

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2021

VALORANT | PC

Notes:	These two colleges are no strangers to one another, but it will be their first-ever meeting when it comes to Valorant, and this time it is for the chance to start the ECAC season at 3-0.  There are 43 teams in ECAC Valorant and after this game, only five will remain undefeated, so it will be a big one.  John Jay has three teams in Valorant, but the Tide team is the only one still undefeated.  They won their first game via forfeit over Mansfield University, but backed it up nicely with a solid, 2-0, win over the College of St. Rose, winning the individual matches, 13-0, and 13-5.  Meanwhile CSI comes in as the ECC Champions from the fall going a combined 10-0 in the fall between Regular Season and Playoffs.  They've followed now in the ECAC with two 2-0 wins to start the spring, with the latest win coming against Providence College last week, 13-2, 13-6.  CSI's Miruux (Long Xin Lu) and Juicy (Christian Dumadag) had the hot triggers in the last outing for CSI and will look to continue to roll.

Notes:	In PS4 action, CSI's Christopher Velasquez will look to get back on the win column with his matchup against Bellarmine University's Zac Pell. Last week Velasquez came back down in game one but ended up losing, then in game two, too many lagging issues forced him to forfeit the match. Bellarmine comes in having lost last week against Mount St. Mary, 2-1, in a matchup where Bellarmine never reached the 50 point mark in any game. In the other PS4 matchup, CSI's Daniel Shostak will be seeking his first win, as is his matchup, Carroll University's Jada Rogers. Last week CSI D fell to John Jay College while Carroll University fell to Saint Thomas Aquinas University.  In XBOX action, CSI's Shabarii Noiis will look to stay undefeated facing off against Farmingdale State College's Vincent Bonomi. Last week Noiis showed us what he can do in NBA 2k21 as he won in convincing fashion by 30 plus points in each game against one of John Jay's two teams in Xbox competition. Ironically, John Jay's other Xbox team fell to Farmingdale last week to stay undefeated. Only one school will come out of this one 3-0 with the potential to be the only undefeated team left of the 14 teams in ECAC Xbox competition.

Notes:	CSI officially kicks off play in the East Coast Conference with their debut against St. Thomas University of Florida, a provisional member of the ECC for Esports.  The ECC is one of two leagues in which CSI plays Rocket League.  The other is with the ECAC with matches scheduled for Wednesdays.  Unlike the ECAC, the ECC has a set schedule week to week and the top four teams at the season's end will face off in a single elimination tournament.

 

WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17, 2021

OVERWATCH | PC

Notes:	After a tough loss last week, CSI will look to rebound against LIU.  CSI started off with a big win on the opening week of the season, but fell to powerful NYIT, 3-0, last week, so they are looking to get back on track and play strong this time out against a Sharks team that comes in with the same 1-1 record.  LIU had to forfeit their first match of the season, so they started 0-1 and then backed it up with a nice win over Wayne State that went the distance, as LIU prevailed, 3-2.  Whoever wins this one will see them seleves back up near the top of the standings, while the team that falls may see themselves outside of playoff contention.

  

ROCKET LEAGUE | Crossplay

Notes:	CSI will look to get back on track this week against Stockton University (B) who lost to Johnson & Wales last week by way of forfeit. In what was CSI's first full game action in Rocket League last week, they played well and could have easily came out with a victory in any of the games they played. CSI lost each game by only one goal, with the second game going into overtime and the third game they lost in the last 30 seconds of play after leading 1-0 throughout. CSI's Alec Savino scored three of their total four goals in all three games combined. This time around the Dolphins will be looking to control the ball and work on their team defense with hopes of bringing home a win to become 2-1 in Group B ECAC competition, which would put them in the top half of the 29 team Group B league. Rocket League is played in a best of five format with five minute games.

Notes:	Both of CSI's Madden teams will look to keep their win streak going and try to improve to 3-0. Daniel Shostak (CSI D) will go toe-to-toe with Muskingham University, led by Owen Hively, to show his competition why he should not be underestimated as he was able to mount a comeback in the final minutes of the fourth quarter in which he kicked the game winning field goal with the clock expiring which gave Shostak the 29-27 victory and won the series 2-0 in his previous matchup against Doug Atkins of Muskingham University. Hively should be a formidable opponent as he also went 2-0 in his last match against the Southern Connecticut State University Owls holding his opponent to under 20 points in both games. Greg Jensen of CSI G will also be looking to improve his record to 3-0  against Rocco Veltri of the SCSU Owls. Jensen is coming into this week after an immaculate defensive performance as he was able to shut out Landon Conner of Saint Francis, 41-0, winning the series 2-1 while Veltri is coming off of a very similar performance himself beating Five Towns College, 33-3. Madden is play in a best of three 1v1 format.
