Date: Monday, February 22, 2021

Notes:

This past week CSI took on Nazareth College in an absolutely intense match which left viewers wanting for more. In the opening battle, it was Sofrino Lorenzo (Frio) who chose Captain Falcon to go up against Wii Fit Trainer which I would like to point out that Nazareth's players were all playing off of the same account so their was no way in telling who was in control of the characters on the opposing team. Lorenzo was able to win game one giving CSI the early lead in the set but lost two stocks in the process of that battle which left him at a huge disadvantage in game two when he went up against Wolf who made quick work of Lorenzo by defeating him in one minute to tie the set, 1-1. Wolf entering the game for Nazareth would quite difficult for CSI as he ended the night by taking a total of seven stock, the first set ultimately end with Nazareth taking a, 1-0 lead in the series but things really took a turn for CSI once the second set started. James Handibode (Sly) would start things off in the second set by facing Young Link in which he was eliminated for but took one stock in the process, but once the next battle began with Lorenzo entering the game, his reign of terror that's been on since the beginning of the season continued as Lorenzo would give CSI a huge boost in momentum as he took six stocks in set two which led to Jeremiah Alonso (YoshiSonic35) finishing off Wolf to tie the series, 1-1. Lorenzo would continue to overwhelm the his opponents in set three as he took seven more stocks which led to Handibode wrapping up the match with Incineroar against Young Link to give CSI the win in the series, 2-1. This was a monumental performance for Lorenzo as he ended the contest by taking a total of 16 stocks

Notes:

In PS4 action this week, Chris Velasquez (CSI C) went up against a formidable opponent in Mount St. Mary's Sam Bell. In game one CSI started with the Denver Nuggets while Mount chose the Philadelphia 76ers. Bell came out of the gates strong scoring the first 11 points to go up, 11-0, before a timeout was taken by Velasquez. Bell would maintain his lead by the end of the first quarter, 17-8. That lead would later increase by halftime to, 39-20, giving Velasquez a tough uphill battle for the second half. Bell was shooting 56% from the field compared to 22% shooting for Velasquez. In the second half Velasquez would cut the lead down to as little as 11 but ultimately ran out of time and lost by a final of, 40-62. In game two, Mount's Bell switched up his winning team and chose the Washington Wizards while CSI's Velasquez went with the LA Lakers. The first quarter was a defensive one as both teams were clamping down in the paint and contesting shots, however, Velasquez was able to take a, 11-8, lead at the end of the first, holding Bell to 30% shooting from the field. In the second, Velasquez showcased great ball movement to take a, 34-17, halftime lead. Bell's team was shooting under 30% from the field while Velasquez's team shot 46%. Bell was not able to recover in the second half with Velasquez leading by as many as 24 points at one time; he won game two by a final of, 59-40, holding Bell to 28% shooting for the game including 1-17 from three. With the series tied, 1-1, game three started with Bell choosing his initial team PHI as Velasquez went with LAL again. Both teams played a back-and-fourth first quarter, until Velasquez started a late 6-0 run to go up by eight points, 17-9, to end the first. Bell, however, in the second quarter, chipped away early and eventually took a, 24-21, lead with under two minutes to play in the first half. The first half ended with CSI down, 28-23, shooting only 38% from the field. The third quarter was a close one throughout as both teams were scoring inside and out, however, Velasquez was still down by the end, 40-34. In the fourth, Velasquez would cut the lead down to four points with two minutes reaming, unfortunately, a couple of costly turnovers and made free throws by Bell sealed the game and match win for Mount St. Mary, 56-47.

In Xbox action, Shabarii Noiis (CSI S) got the forfeit win against Dallas Baptist University's Garrett Riddle who was not able to compete due to an injury. It's unfortunate as both teams came into this one, 3-0, with some convincing wins under their belts which would have translated to the games this week. Nonetheless, they may meet again but for the now CSI's Noiis owns the top spot in the ECAC NBA 2k21 Xbox Play with a, 4-0 record.

The ECAC NBA 2k21 is played in a 1v1 format, best of three series.

This Week's Result: CSI 3, Providence College 0 (2-0, 1-0, 2-1)
Date:  Wednesday, February 24, 2021
Live Stream: CSI Twitch
Notes: CSI made short work of Providence this week in a  match that they were able to win quite quickly, putting them on their first winning streak of the season, as they now stand at 3-1.  Play got underway on the map of Busan for Control, and here, CSI was able to punish the Friars with a series of kills in capturing both points in overwhelming fashion.  Elizabeth Garrison (Lizzie) led the way with 7,945 Healing, while William Graham (Waffle)  posted five Earthshatter Kills.  On the second map of Rialto the game was Escort, and CSI defended the payload first and set the tone.  They were able to keep the Friars away from capturing a single point, so when it was their turn to escort, all they needed to do was score the first progress point on the map to win the round, and they were able to do so in a little over a minute.  Andrew Shnoda (Bioactive1) posted 8,013 Healing in this one, while Shane Drucker (Weast) posted a 12 Kill Streak.  Finally, it was time for Assault play on the map of Volskaya Industries.  CSI defended first and did another great job, and PC managed just a single point in this one, using overtime to do it.  CSI, however, was very quick to strike when they were attacking.  They won the first point overwhelmingly, and then kept the pressure going to score again in their second turn, winning the round, 2-1, and winning the match overall, 3-0. Drucker posted 28 High Energy Kills in the final contest, while Garrison had 39 Defensive Assists.

Notes:

ECC Play: This weeks Rocket League matchup was intense as CSI took on Southern New Hampshire University. SNHU put immense pressure on CSI in game one as their defense had a total of nine saves which created stellar offense for SNHU giving them the early, 1-0 lead in the series. The momentum  would continue in game two as SNHU would open the game with two goals and 43 seconds which would be the last two they score as it is just enough to beat CSI in game two, 2-1 giving SNHU a, 2-0 lead in the series. CSI would then show signs of life in game three as Ralphy Vargas (Driftzy) and Maxim Kleyer (Mucks) would combine for two goals under a minute in which their aggressive offense would put them over in game three as they won, 4-1 taking a total of ten shots. Unfortunately that spark was short lived as SNHU scored the opening goal and their defense held up in game four as CSI could not score a single goal which gave SNHU the, 1-0 victory in game four as they win the series, 3-1.

ECAC Play:
This week the CSI Rocket League team in ECAC competition went up against the University of Hartford's RL Black Team. In game one both teams were vying for good scoring position until UHart's Alexandros Cooke-Politikos (Astro) boosted one into CSI's goal for a, 1-0, early lead. CSI would play good defensively, however, UHart was able to tack on two more late to seal game one, 3-0. CSI mustered only four shots in game one. Game two was pivotal for the Dolphins and their play showed it, Ralphy Vargas (Driftzy) and Samuel Rozenfeld (Eleventeen) scored the first two goals for CSI, Vargas off a self-pass and Rozenfeld off an explosion block. Later, CSI was up, 2-1, when Cooke-Politikos (Astro) tied the game at, 2-2, with 10 seconds left as he was able to tap it in when the ball trickled in CSI territory. In the overtime session, that last +3 minutes, it was off the fancy wheel-work of Rozenfeld (Eleventeen) that CSI was able to score the golden goal and take game two, 3-2. In game three CSI ran with that momentum and took an early, 4-0, lead to an eventual final of, 7-1. Vargas (Driftzy) and Rozenfeld (Eleventeen) combined to take 11 of their total 12 shots and scored all seven goals between them in game three alone. With CSI now up in the series, 2-1, game four had a similar feel to game one, except this time CSI was a victor in a, 3-0, shutout for the game and match win, 3-1. With the exception of game one, the Dolphins were stellar defensively saving 19 of UHart's total 24 shots in games two-four while allowing only three goals in those last three games combined. Offensively, CSI turned-up after game one with efficient in-air ball movement, placement and lead passing. Rocket League is played in a best of five.
