DOLPHINS SHOW RESILIENCY IN LOSS TO PENMEN

Staten Island, NY – In what was a windy and cloudy afternoon in Bridgeport, Connecticut the College of Staten Island Women's Soccer team fell short to non-conference Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU), 4-0, on Sunday, September 5th. The loss drops the Dolphins to, 0-2, on the season while the Penmen improve to, 2-0, on the season following their, 2-1, win over the host school, the University of Bridgeport, a day ago as part of the Soccer Classic.

KEY MOMENTS
Despite registering a single shot-on-goal, for the second straight game, the Dolphins attacked the Penmen early and often, however, SNHU would do the same and struck first within the first five minutes of play. The goal came off the foot of Alyssa Anderson who was deep in the Dolphin's box and executed on a short cross from Sydney Carney. CSI would remain resilient and enter halftime down, 1-0. In the second half, at the 59th minute of play the Penmen would go up, 2-0, due to a foul called on the Dolphins deep in their zone that would render a scored penalty shot for SNHU. Though, the Dolphins didn't agree with the foul call, it would give the Penmen momentum as they were able to score two more in the next 10 minutes of play, before a final of, 4-0.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
The Penmen would record 19 shots (nine shots-on-goal) saving five of them and playing tough defense to hinder the other shots taken by SNHU. For the second straight game, the Dolphins couldn't register a corner kick while the Penmen tallied nine of them during the game. The Penmen committed nine fouls on the day, one of them gave the Dolphins their best chance at scoring; a free kick taken just outside the box by Dolphin forward, Nadia Evola, though, SNHU's Sophomore goalie, Z Kaplan, would make her only save of the game off that free kick.

DOLPHIN(S) OF THE GAME
Despite giving up four goals, Ariel Salaman, did a nice job in the box for CSI who got the start today and played the majority of the game. CSI Defenders, Danie Duka, Isabela Castro and Angye Galan, played well in the middle and helped the Dolphins garnish more offensive possessions in the opponent's zone, while playing the ball nicely in the back field.

WHATS NEXT
The Dolphins will next host their home opener on Wednesday, September 8 against the Golden Falcons of Felician University, who most recently lost their home opener, 3-0, to East Stroudsburg University. CSI is slated for a 3:30pm start at the CSI Soccer Complex.
