DOLPHINS DROP BOTH GAMES IN DOUBLEHEADER AGAINST STAC

Sparkhill, NY | The College of Staten Island faced off against the Spartans in a Doubleheader to cap off the first ECC series of the season. They lost both games verse, Saint Thomas Aquinas College. They lost the first game by a score of 7-17 and in game two, 4-6. The matchup puts CSI at 6-11 on the season and 0-3 in conference play. 

KEY MOMENTS
Game 1

The Dolphins would start off the game by a walk to Jake Myers that would end up with Myers scoring off a passed ball. In the top of the second Pat Gardner led off the inning with a single, followed by a Thomas Marten walk, a Sac bunt by Nick Cippoletti would advance Gardner and Marten. Gardner scored off a Sac fly by Allen Morel to put CSI up by 2 going into the bottom of the second. STAC would answer back putting one run on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 2nd. The score would remain CSI ahead by one run going into the bottom of the 4th inning where the Spartans put four hits and six runs on the board making the score 7-2 STAC. In the bottom of the 6th inning, the Spartans would add another five runs. The Dolphins put an additional five runs before the game ended however it wasn't enough to take the lead, CSI would go on to lose by a score of that 7-17.

Game 2
The Spartans would be the first to put runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the 1st STAC would score two runs off one hit. The Dolphins answered right back in the top of the second Michael Crocco reached base via an error and would go on to score off a Jake Myers Single. In the top of the 4th inning CSI would tie things up, Nicholas Campisi would single and go on to score off a Shendi Ulaj fielder's choice. This was sparked by a Sutera fly-out to right field. However, STAC would answer right back with two runs off two hits in the bottom of the 4th. CSI's pitcher Pat Gardner would get one run back by leading off the top of the 5th with a solo home run. Unfortunately, CSI could not mount a comeback and would go on to lose by a score of 4-6.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
Game 1 

CSI tallied seven runs, nine hits, and two errors in the game. Jake Myers went 1-for-1 with three runs, a double, and two walks. Cippolettli went 2-for-4 for two singles one RBI. Pitchers Adam Gonzalez, Michael Diforte, and Nick Vilardi would combine for five strikeouts in the contest. The Griffins finished the game with seventeen runs, fifteen hits, and two errors.

Game 2
CSI tallied four runs, seven hits, and one errors in the game. Myers went 3-for-3 with one run, one RBI, and one walk. Castiglione went 2-for-2 with two walks. Gardner had a 1-for-1 performance with a Solo Home Run. The Dolphins pitcher Pat Gardner had four strikeouts over five innings. Steven Collica would come in for the final two innings only giving up one hit. The Griffins finished with six runs, six hits, and one error.

DOLPHIN OF THE GAME 
Game 1

The Dolphin of the Game goes to Jake Myers. Myers went 1-for-1 with three runs, a double, and two walks. He also had six catches and three putouts. 

Game 2
The Dolphin of the Game goes to Pat Gardner. Gardner would pitch five innings and picked up four strikeouts. At the Plate, he launched a Solo home run.
