SWIMMING & DIVING SECURES THREE WINS IN SEASON-OPENING TRI-MEET

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team scored three wins in their season-opening meet today as the men defeated Mount Saint Mary College and FDU-Florham while the women earned a win over the Knights and lost to the Devils. The CSI men begin their season 2-0 while the women get off to a 1-1 start. Mount Saint Mary begins their season 0-2 for both the men and women while FDU-Florham ends the day 2-0 on the women's side and 1-1 on the men's side.

The meet was highlighted for the CSI men by a pair of lopsided victories. Against Mount Saint Mary, the Dolphins earned a 182-23 victory, and against FDU the Dolphins won 167-37. The victory for the women over Mount Saint Mary was by a 73-point margin, 133-60. Along the way, a program record also fell as Edna Melendez set a new record in the 100 Yard Backstroke with a time of 1:04.32.

The Dolphins are back home next week when they face Adelphi University and Hunter College on Friday. The women will face both the Hawks and the Panthers while the men will compete against only Adelphi.
