DOLPHINS SCORE JUST THREE TIMES IN TWO LOSSES TO EAST STROUDSBURG

Staten Island, NY – The College of Staten Island Baseball Team hosted a non-conference doubleheader against East Stroudsburg University earlier today and scored just three times in a pair of losses.  The two defeats drop the Dolphins to 8-17 overall and the pair of victories improve East Stroudsburg to 26-4 on the season.

GAME 1
The Warriors ran rampant on the base paths throughout the game and got started early in the first inning.  After a leadoff baserunner was picked off, the Warriors seized control of the game behind two walks, three hits, and three CSI errors.  Four runs came home to score in the inning and this was all the offense East Stroudsburg would need.  The Warriors scored two more in the second, scored five more in the fourth, and went on to steal seven bases in the game.  Neither team would score after the fourth, and the two sides combined for just 12 hits in the game in an 11-0 ESU win.

GAME 2
The Dolphins got off to a much better start in game two as Aidan Keilty opened the game with two scoreless innings in his first start of the season.  In the third inning, three ESU hits combined with three CSI errors resulted in four runs against the Dolphins bullpen.  The Dolphins got one back in the next inning on an RBI single by Anthony Iraci to make it 4-1, but this was as close as CSI would get.  With two outs in the sixth, the Warriors struck for five more runs to go in front by eight.  The Dolphins went on to score once in each of the last two innings, but CSI would go on to lose the game by six despite being outhit by just one.

Michael Kehoe hit safely in both games for the Dolphins and A.J. Vigliotti had a pair of hits in game two.  The CSI bats were relatively quiet on the day overall, but the Dolphins were only outhit 15-10 across the two games.  The glaring blemish on the final stat line for the Dolphins was the eleven errors committed in the two games.  Those errors resulted in nine unearned runs on the day.

The Dolphins return home for Heroes Day at the CSI Baseball Complex on Saturday.  They will face Alliance University in another non-conference doubleheader with first pitch coming at 12 PM.
