SWIMMING & DIVING SCORES WIN OVER HUNTER, FALLS TO MONTCLAIR STATE

11/9/2024 11:55:00 PM

Montclair, NJ - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team was back on the road this afternoon as they visited Montclair State University for a meet with both the Red Hawks of MSU and the Hawks of Hunter College.  In the men's meet the Dolphins fell to Montclair State by a final score of 155-123.  In the women's meet the Dolphins fell to the Red Hawks, 145-103, and defeated Hunter, 171-73.  The CSI men finish the day 3-2 on the season and the women end the day 2-5.  The win for the CSI women over Hunter is their third straight and the Dolphins are still searching for their first victory against Montclair State.

Matt Bernstein earned the CSI men their first win of the meet in 1-Meter Diving.  Anthony Attenborough also came very close to earning first-place points in the 200 Free, but he finished just one-tenth of a second off the pace.  Vlad Siniagovskii did earn first in the 50 Back, and Jessica Johnson earned the women a first-place finish in the 100 Free.  Siniagovskii took first in the 100 Back as well and Attenborough added his lone first-place finish in the 100 IM.

Head-to-head against the Red Hawks, the Dolphins finished the meet with a total of five first-place times.  However, both the men's and women's scores saw the Dolphins closer to the Red Hawks than they've been in any season since 2019.  Meanwhile, the CSI women topped the Hawks in many events to secure a commanding win.  The victory by nearly 100 points was the biggest margin of victory for the Dolphins over the Hawks in program history.

The Dolphins will be back home in just shy of two weeks as they welcome in five additional programs for the 2024 CSI Invite.  That meet will begin on Friday night and continue through Saturday with a Diving session to take place on December 3, 2024.
