1/14/2025 10:00:00 PM

Staten Island, NY - The College of Staten Island Swimming & Diving Team hosted their first meet of the new year earlier today as they faced NE-10 program Assumption University for the first time ever.  Competing against the NE-10 for the fourth time this season, the Dolphins earned a split with the Greyhounds, 183-71 in the men's meet, and 80-188 in the women's meet.  The CSI men improve to 4-3 with the victory and the Assumption men fall to 1-3. The CSI women are now 2-7, and the Assumption end the day 1-4.

The Dolphins opened the meet with a men's win in the 200 Medley Relay and an uncontested victory in the 1000 Free.  The men once again took an uncontested win in the 200 Free before Vlad Siniagovskii registered the team's first contested win in the 100 Back.  David Fayngersh earned another nine points for the CSI men in the 100 Breast and William Kwan took first in the 200 Fly.  The first victory for the CSI women came shortly after in the 50 Free when Jessica Johnson took first.  In the same event, Anthony Attenborough took first place for the men.  Jordan Swanson, Jacqueline DeFranco and Yubal Parra then combined to earn the Dolphins 44 points in 1-Meter and 3-Meter Diving.

Siniagovskii and Julian Lopez competed unopposed in the 200 Back before Kwan and Fayngersh finished first and second in a more crowded field during the 200 Breast.  After the men scored another uncontested victory in the 100 Fly, Lopez and Fayngersh placed one and two in the 200 IM by a fraction of a second.  Finally, the meet concluded with the Greyhounds scoring wins in each 200 Free Relay, culminating with the Assumption men narrowly besting the Dolphins.

The Dolphins will be back in action at home on Monday night as they host Baruch College.  That meet will also see the Dolphins celebrate senior day as they recognize eight graduating student-athletes.  Katherine Ebrahim, Jessica, Johnson, Morgan Novello, Jordan Swanson, Anthony Attenborough, Matthew Bernstein, David Poggioli, and Nicholas Tartaglione will all be recognized ahead of Monday's meet as the Dolphins host the Bearcats in their home finale at 1:00 PM.
