STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team celebrated Senior Day on Saturday afternoon, honoring two graduating student-athletes during their match against Queens College (NY) at Dolphins Soccer Park.
Prior to kickoff, Brianna Dore and Jillian Gardner were recognized for their contributions to the Dolphins over the past four seasons. Today's match resulted in a draw with the Knights, bringing the Dolphins to a 3-8-2 overall record and 1-3-1 in East Coast Conference (ECC) play.
Despite the scoreless outcome, both teams delivered an energetic and competitive performance. Senior goalkeeper, Dore, recorded a career-high of 14 saves, keeping the Knights off the scoreboard and securing the draw. Her impressive effort ranks third all-time for most saves in a single game in program history.
Caitlyn Thompson registered the game's first shot, aiming to give the Dolphins an early advantage, but her attempt sailed wide left. Queens quickly responded with offensive pressure, firing three consecutive shots—one of which was stopped by senior goalkeeper Brianna Dore. As the Knights maintained their momentum, they continued to test Dore, who came up with a standout save, deflecting a dangerous shot high and away.
In the second half, Mazzy Cirinelli and Thompson, both of whom recorded shot attempts in the first half, continued to press forward in search of a breakthrough, but were unable to get past the Knights' goalkeeper. Ultimately, strong defensive efforts on both sides held the match to a 0-0 draw.
The College of Staten Island women's soccer team will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 25, when they face No. 11 Mercy University in Dobbs Ferry, NY at 2:00 PM.
