STATEN ISLAND, NY - The College of Staten Island men's and women's indoor track and field teams return to the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex this Friday afternoon for the Wagner College Shootout, just one week after opening their seasons at the same venue.
In last Saturday's season opener, the Dolphins competed exclusively in individual events with no relay entries. The meet proved successful as CSI athletes broke four program records—three on the women's side and one on the men's side. Mia Bowden set a new women's 300m record with a time of 42.96, while Sam Whelan established the men's 300m record at 35.11. Adonijah Washington had a standout day, breaking two records: one in the 500m with a time of 1:23.28, and another in the triple jump, where her mark of 11.49m earned her second place overall—the highest finish of the meet for CSI.
Several Dolphins delivered additional strong performances. Madison Jackson placed ninth in the 400m at 1:07.82, followed closely by Jacqueline Washington at 1:08.25. Elizabeth Nicotra finished 15th in the 1K with a time of 3:20.64, and Zaria Dinkins earned an 11th-place finish in the weight throw with a distance of 9.21m.
On the men's side, Karran Riley led CSI with a fifth-place finish in the 500m, clocking in at 1:07.03, just ahead of Steven Elcock, who took sixth at 1:07.07. Jehu Ermilus secured 10th in the 1K at 2:52.01, and in the field events, Jeremiah Downer placed 10th in the long jump while Dominick Hric earned 10th in the shot put.
The Dolphins now look to build on their strong start as they return to competition this Friday.
