Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

TYNES AND GOLDSTEIN NET FIVE THREES APIECE IN ECC WIN OVER RED HAWKS

ROCHESTER, NY –  The College of Staten Island men's basketball team traveled to Rochester, NY on Saturday afternoon for an East Coast Conference (ECC) matchup against Roberts Wesleyan University. After building a lead of more than 20 points by halftime, the Dolphins cruised to a 93–73 victory, improving to 6–2 in conference play and 15–5 overall.

Roberts Wesleyan opened the game with a 7–3 advantage, but Asa Kone quickly swung the momentum in CSI's favor. Kone scored five points on an and-one opportunity followed by a dunk to give the Dolphins an 8–7 lead, which they would not relinquish for the remainder of the contest. Aaron Goldstein and Eric Tynes sparked the offense from beyond the arc, knocking down consecutive three-pointers to extend the lead to 14–9.

Kone continued his strong start with another three-point play to push the advantage to 22–11, and JJ Chestnut soon made it a 13-point game. Each time the Red Hawks attempted to cut into the deficit, CSI responded. Late in the first half, Brandon Torres scored five straight points, while Goldstein and Tynes remained hot from long range, helping the Dolphins take a commanding 53–32 lead into halftime.

The Dolphins kept their foot on the gas in the second half. Kone and Tynes combined for five quick points to extend the lead to 26, and Joey Poulin answered a Roberts Wesleyan basket to maintain the margin as CSI continued to cruise toward the ECC victory.

Tynes led all scorers with 19 points, while Goldstein added 18. The duo combined for 10 three-pointers, accounting for most of the Dolphins' 12 makes from deep. Kone finished with 14 points and a block, and Mitchell Wiggans recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Goldstein and Poulin also facilitated the offense, combining for nine assists.

The Dolphins return home to the Tank on Wednesday, Jan. 28, when they host Queens College at 7:30 PM.
