DOLPHINS END ECC CLASH WITH QUEENS IN SCORELESS DRAW

FLUSHING, NY – The College of Staten Island women's soccer team took on East Coast Conference (ECC) opponent Queens College under the lights Saturday evening in Flushing, NY. The Dolphins and Knights battled through 90 minutes of scoreless action, resulting in a 0-0 draw. With the result, CSI moves to 2-7-1 overall and 1-3-1 in ECC play.

Queens entered the contest with two conference wins and no losses, but the Dolphins held the Knights scoreless behind a strong performance from goalkeeper Oksana Zahirna, who recorded 10 saves.

The Dolphins were tested defensively early, as the Knights recorded three consecutive shots but failed to find the back of the net. Isabella Schlee recorded CSI's first shot of the contest, sending an attempt just over the crossbar as the Dolphins looked to break the deadlock.

The first half featured seven total shots, with Queens accounting for five. The hosts increased the offensive pressure after halftime, recording 13 shots compared to CSI's five. Caitlyn Thompson, Addison Lucy, and Rose Foti each recorded attempts for the Dolphins in the second half, but none found the back of the net.

As time wound down, Queens recorded one final shot in the closing seconds, but Zahirna and the Dolphins defense held firm to secure the 0-0 draw.

Thompson led CSI with three shots, including two on target, while Lucy added two attempts.

The College of Staten Island women's soccer team returns home next Thursday for a non-conference matchup against Georgian Court at 2:00 PM.
