STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island men's basketball team closed out the regular season with a strong 2–0 week, highlighted by its Senior Day victory at the Tank on Saturday, Feb. 28. Leading the way was JJ Chestnut, whose standout performances earned him East Coast Conference Player (ECC) of the Week honors.
The award marks Chestnut's first weekly honor of the season and comes after an impressive stretch in which he averaged 25.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7.5 assists per game while shooting 57% from the field and 75% from behind the arc.
In Wednesday's win over Queens College in Flushing, Chestnut led the Dolphins with 21 points, knocking down four three pointers and adding four steals.
His biggest performance of the week, and of his collegiate career, came on Senior Day against Molloy University.
