FLUSHING, NY – The College of Staten Island baseball team earned its first East Coast Conference (ECC) win of the season, defeating Queens College in game one of Friday's doubleheader. Game two was suspended in the top of the ninth inning with the score tied at 7-7 and will be resumed on April 17.
Game One: CSI 6, Queens 2
The Dolphins struck first with a four-run fourth inning, fueled by RBI at-bats from Ryan Ortega and Michael Flashner, along with a pair of Queens errors to take a 4-0 lead.
Queens responded with a run in the bottom of the third and added another by the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 4-2, holding CSI scoreless in the interim.
In the seventh, three consecutive walks loaded the bases for the Dolphins. A double play brought in a run to extend the lead to 5-2. Jack Kehoe later reached on a walk in the eighth and came around to score on a Knights fielding error, giving CSI its final margin at 6-2.
Vera, Flashner, and Ortega each finished 2-4 at the plate, while Jandel Brito and Kehoe went 1-3. On the mound, Michael Furst earned his first win of the season, tossing 6.0 innings with six strikeouts. Aiden Kielty secured the save, pitching 3.0 innings with two strikeouts.

The Knights quickly responded to tie the game at 6-6. Kehoe later delivered a go-ahead solo home run, his first of the season, to put CSI back in front, 7-6. However, Queens answered once again in the eighth to even the score at 7-7.
