ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY – The College of Staten Island baseball team will continue East Coast Conference (ECC) play on Saturday morning with a doubleheader against Molloy University in Rockville Centre. Although the Dolphins are listed as the home team, the games will be played at Molloy while CSI awaits the completion of its field renovations in Staten Island.

2025 Series Meeting: Dolphins Go 1–3 Against Lions

The Dolphins and Lions met four times during the 2025 season. CSI opened the series in Staten Island with an 8–7 walk-off victory in 10 innings, but Molloy responded by winning the next three games to take the season series.

In the March 20 opener, the Dolphins jumped out to an early lead with a four-run bottom of the first. Molloy answered with three runs in the second, but CSI extended its advantage to 6–3 in the fourth with a two-run home run. The Lions eventually rallied, taking a 7–6 lead in the top of the seventh. In the bottom half of the inning, the Dolphins loaded the bases and drew a walk to tie the game and force extra innings.

The game remained deadlocked until the bottom of the 10th when CSI once again loaded the bases with one out. After a lengthy at-bat, the Dolphins pushed across the winning run to secure the 8–7 walk-off victory.

All-Time Series

Since the Dolphins transitioned to Division II, the teams have met 18 times, beginning with their first matchup in 2021. CSI did not record its first win over Molloy until the 2023 season, when the Dolphins earned an 11–0 shutout at home—marking their first official Division II victory against the Lions.

Following that win, Molloy regained control of the series, winning seven straight games against CSI. Overall, the Lions hold a 16–2 advantage in the all-time series. The Dolphins will look to narrow that gap as they continue the 2026 ECC schedule.

Individual Leaders

Against the Spartans on Friday, Jamel Vera and Jason Romance powered the Dolphins at the plate throughout the doubleheader. Vera is batting .421 through 10 games this season and leads the team with 16 hits, including three doubles and two triples. Romance, in his rookie season, leads the team with two home runs while adding a triple and seven RBI with a .350 batting average. Michael Flashner sits just behind Vera with a .382 average and leads the team with eight RBI, while Jack Kehoe tops the roster with 11 walks.

On the mound for the Dolphins, Aidan Kielty leads the staff with a 5.73 ERA across 11.0 innings pitched while recording 10 strikeouts. Nicholas Chiaia leads the group with 12 strikeouts in 13.0 innings pitched and carries a 6.92 ERA.

For the Lions, their top performer is hitting .412 with 14 hits and three home runs. Another key contributor is tied for the team lead with three home runs while batting .381 with a team-high 13 RBI. On the mound, the Lions are led by a pitcher with a 1.50 ERA, a 0.88 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts, followed by another starter with a 2.20 ERA.
