STATEN ISLAND, NY – The College of Staten Island track and field teams traveled to Glassboro, NJ on Saturday, Apr. 11 to compete at the Oscar Moore Invitational, where Adonijah Washington and Peter Galletta delivered standout performances that earned them East Coast Conference (ECC) Athlete of the Week honors. The recognition marks the first weekly awards of the season for both the men's and women's programs.

Washington turned in a historic performance, becoming the first athlete in program history to record a national qualifying mark in the triple jump. She won the event with a distance of 12.12 meters, a mark that currently ranks 15th in the nation and puts her on pace to compete at the NCAA National Championships in Emporia, KS this May. In addition to her victory, Washington also placed third in the 400mH with a time of 1:09.52, earning ECC Women's Field Athlete of the Week honors.

On the men's side, rookie Peter Galletta continued his strong start to the outdoor season. After posting personal bests in each of the first two meets, Galletta captured first place in the 3000m race at the Oscar Moore Invitational, finishing atop a field of eight competitors. His time of 9:47.43 set a new program record in the event and earned him ECC Men's Track Athlete of the Week recognition.

The Dolphins return to action this Saturday, Apr. 18, when they compete at the Rider Invitational in Lawrenceville, NJ.
