GLASSBORO, NJ – The College of Staten Island men's and women's outdoor track and field teams competed at the Oscar Moore Invitational, highlighted by the program's first-ever national qualifier and five new school records.
Adonijah Washington led the way for the Dolphins in the triple jump, finishing first overall with a mark of 12.12m. Her performance not only secured a national qualifying standard, but also set a new school record in the event.
In addition to Washington's record-breaking effort, four more program records fell on the day. Adriana Roa set a new mark in the 800m with a time of 2:24.38, while Anna Carafiol broke the 3000m record in 12:29.28. On the men's side, Peter Galletta set a new 3000m record at 9:47.43, and Dominik Hric established a new benchmark in the hammer throw with a distance of 36.54 meters. Galletta earned a first-place finish, while Roa placed second, Carafiol third, and Hric fourth in their respective events.
Additional strong performances included Mia Bowden, who placed second in the triple jump behind Washington with a mark of 10.86m, and Angelina Guerriero, who finished fourth in the javelin with a throw of 31.99m. Sam Whelan advanced to the finals in the 100-meter dash, placing fifth in the preliminaries before finishing sixth overall with a time of 10.86.
Kayla Larsen and Jeremiah Downer each recorded fourth-place finishes in the 400m dash, with Larsen posting a time of 1:05.56 and Downer finishing in 59.44.
The Dolphins return to action on April 18 at the Rider Invitational.
