A part of the College’s athletic program for many years, Sal Caruso was named Intramural coordinator at CSI in March of 2013. He has also spent time in a role as a information game assistant. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at CSI in Science, Letters and Society (SLS.) In his duties as an intramural coordinator, Caruso helped implement the CSI Gamer's Club, and is now serving to assist with Esports. He works alongside Assistant Athletics Director, Alberto Sanchez, as the club matriculates to full varsity status in 2020-21. Caruso also has duties as a facilities supervisor for the Sports & Recreation Center as well, making him a valuable resource for the program.
In his current role, Caruso has been working towards expanding the Intramural Program to greater lengths by initiating an intramural advisory council, and expanding the program to compete in off campus tournaments. He also works hand-in-hand with CSI’s Office of Student Life, insuring that the vast intramural program goes beyond athletics to include sports clubs and interest groups. Part of that outreach has been the overwhelming development of the Gamers Club, which is now at the doorstep of varsity competition.
Working alongside Sanchez, Caruso will help implement and monitor the coaching staff, oversee scheduling, facility arrangements for esports competition, and correspondence with the East Coast Conference and National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) upon membership.
