Brendan Guzman

Guzman was named the fifth head coach in the history of the CSI Women's Soccer program in September of 2021.  A standout athlete at the high school and collegiate levels during his playing career, Guzman arrived at the College of Staten Island following a stint as a member of the New Jersey City University coaching staff.  As a coach, he has received 7 all-conference selections and coached G2004, G2005, G2007, G2009, and G2010.  Guzman has also served as the Technical Director of U13-U15 at Asphalt Green Soccer Club in New York City beginning in 2016 and is a NYAC Women's Assistant Coach in the WPSL.  From 2016-2017 he was an Elementary Physical Educator at South Orange-Maplewood in New Jersey.
  
To begin his playing career, he was a part of the Red Bull Academy and and Match Fit Academy DA in New Jersey.  He was also a part of the 2019 NJ High School All-Decade Team.  During his collegiate career was among the premiere defenders in the NJAC at Montclair State University as he pursued a B.S. in Physical Education and Health. Across his playing career he played in 85 games including four appearances in the NCAA tournament, one of which saw the Red Hawks reach the Elite 8.  He was also part of two NJAC Championship-winning teams and tallied 14 career points from his defensive position.  Following his time at Montclair, he played semi-professionally with the North Jersey Alliance and Clifton Elite in the NPSL.  Lastly, he participated in pro trials at the USL Combine and a trial period in Scotland and Ireland.
  
Guzman brings with him numerous coaching degrees, licenses, and certifications including a his degree from Montclair State, a USSF D, USC National, USC Goalkeeping Level 1 Online, and an American Red Cross First Aid/CPR/AED.  He is also a member of the USSF Center for Safe Sport and the USC- 4th Coaching Convention.  Taking over in 2021 just a short time before the season began, he quickly earned his first win as a collegiate Head Coach in the team's home-opener.  The Dolphins would go on to win three games in Guzman's first season at the helm, two of those coming in conference play.

Away from the pitch Guzman is a fan of the Glasgow Celtics, NY Red Bulls and Liverpool.  His favorite players are Gerard Pique and Fernando Torres, and he enjoys video games, live music and Marvel.
