College of Staten Island Athletics

Head Coach John Guagliardo may be one of CSI's newest coaches, but he has already basked in a host of successes during his career coaching both men's and women's soccer programs on Staten Island.

A coach for nearly two decades, Guagliardo's most notable tenure was as the head coach at Notre Dame Academy on Staten Island, where he spent 14 years.  The team won multiple division titles, city titles, and was a state finalist in 2003.  Guagliardo has also guided multiple travel programs, more recently coaching the Staten Island Select Under-17 squad to a semifinal berth in the USA Cup, where the squad fell to eventual champion team Canada, 1-0.

Guagliardo has taken the same approach at CSI.  Rather than establishing goals, he believes that a team must continuously work towards challenging itself to achieve more and more, and his teams have already earned two CUNY Championships in as many years.  He preaches a family environment and a passion for the game to his recruits that he hopes will lead to even greater successes.
