COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND ATHLETICS
Staff HS - Sanchez - 16-17

Alberto Sanchez

A recreation gamer in his own right, Alberto Sanchez was named the CSI athletics' coordinator of esports in the summer of 2020, and will oversee the program and its coaching staff in time for their first competitive season in 2020-2021.  Sanchez has also been the department's assistant athletic director/finance & business manager since June of 2016.  A long-time Brooklyn college staffer, Sanchez had been serving as a senior accountant in its comptroller's office before assuming his duties at CSI.

Sanchez oversees principal responsibility of finance and business operations within the Athletics Department.  His duties include long and short range budget forecasting, team budget management and fundraising operations, and membership and rental services for the campus' Sports & Recreation Center.  At a time when the College was operating remotely in the spring of 2020, Sanchez dove into the CSI Gamers Club, becoming its staff liaison during their transition into a full varsity team that same summer.

Working alongside Intramurals Coordinator Sal Caruso,  Sanchez will help implement and monitor the coaching staff, oversee scheduling, facility arrangements for esports competition, and correspondence with the East Coast Conference and National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) upon membership.

A Brooklyn native, Sanchez graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management and Finance in 2007, and earned his Master's of Science in Business Economics in 2012.  He returned to the College and earned a secondary Master of Science Degree in Sports Management in June of 2016.

When Sanchez says "stay focused," he's telling those Esports gamers to not get distracted by snacks.
