Matthew Scally

Matthew Scally, a seasoned athletic administrator with more than 30 years of experience, comes to CSI after spending the last decade at Columbia University where he served as an Associate Athletics Director for Intercollegiate Sports Programs. Scally was a member of the Executive Management team that oversaw 31 varsity sports and 800 student-athletes while having direct supervision of ten programs. In this role, he managed the day-to-day operations of these ten Division I programs, while also serving as the lead administrator at the Baker Athletics Complex. Scally assisted in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures for the entire Department and served as a liaison between the Athletic Department and other campus departments, including admissions and financial aid.

 

During his time in Morningside Heights, Columbia won 32 Ivy League Championships and six National Championships. Additionally, Columbia ranked among the nation’s leaders in Graduation Rates (GSR) and the Academic Progress Rate (APR). Columbia also saw record fundraising levels within athletics over the past ten years.

 

Prior to joining Columbia, Scally served in numerous roles at Long Island University – Brooklyn. Making stops in Admissions and Advising before joining the Athletic Department, Scally oversaw the Academic and Compliance areas at LIU-Brooklyn. During his tenure, the Blackbirds posted a GPA above 3.00 in each semester, had more than 50 teams recognized for academic excellence, and received national recognition for having the highest student-athlete graduation rate compared to the general student body.

 

As part of the senior staff at LIU-Brooklyn, the Blackbirds won over 40 Northeast Conference (NEC) championships during his tenure while having multiple student-athletes named university valedictorians and dozens of major award winners within the NEC. In addition to his contributions on campus, Scally has also served on numerous Ivy League and Northeast Conference committees over his career, as well as on the national level as a member of the NCAA Progress Towards Degree committee and as an NCAA Peer Review member in the Certification program.

 

Scally resides in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, with his wife Mary and two children, Daniel and Grace.
