A part of the College’s Athletic Program for the past six years, Sal Caruso was named intramural coordinator in March of 2013. He has also spent time in a role as a sports information game assistant. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree at CSI in Science, Letters and Society (SLS.) Caruso most recently took over duties as a facilities supervisor for the Sports & Recreation Center as well, making him a valuable resource for the program.
In his current role, Caruso has been working towards expanding the intramural program to greater lengths by initiating an Intramural Advisory Council, and expanding the program to compete in off campus tournaments. Additional initiatives include a CUNY-Wide Handball Tournament for all CUNY Schools, a flag football and indoor soccer program into the schedule, and much more. Caruso works hand-in-hand with CSI’s Office of Student Life, insuring that the vast intramural program goes beyond athletics to include sports clubs and interest groups.
Caruso has revamped the programs website via "www.csidolphins.com," and is building on entities like the Game Room, open recreation, three-on-three basketball tournaments, and indoor and outdoor swimming and tennis lessons, which have all expanded under his guidance.
