COLLEGE OF STATEN ISLAND ATHLETICS
Staff HS - Sanchez - 16-17

Alberto Sanchez

Alberto Sanchez was named the college's new assistant athletic director/finance & business manager in June 2016.  A long-time Brooklyn College staffer, Sanchez had been serving as a senior accountant in its comptroller's office before assuming his duties at CSI.

As CSI's newest Assistant Athletic Director, Sanchez will oversee principal responsibility of finance and business operations within the Athletics Department.  He will include long and short range budget forecasting, team budget management, fundraising operations, and rental services for the campus' Sports & Recreation Center.

Sanchez has familiarity with the college and the CUNY system, having completed ten years at Brooklyn College as a senior accountant.  One of his primary responsibilities included management and oversight of the College's athletics budget, preparing yearly audit portfolios, and tracking expenses for nationwide travel taken by its intercollegiate teams.  He was a central figure to the program, preparing monthly balance sheets, general ledger trial balances, and profit and loss statements.  On top of the support for athletics, Sanchez was responsible for accounts totaling over $14M of discretionary funds at the College, insuring compliance and accounting in accordance with GASB and GAAP standards.

In 2014,  Sanchez took his duties in athletics further, becoming an event Coordinator for the Bulldogs' intercollegiate athletics program, which included general set-up and break-down gameday duties, managing gameday staffing, locker room assignments, and crowd control.  At CSI,  Sanchez will be responsible for similar duties of event management with outside rentals to the facilities, as well as intercollegiate athletics.  He will also lend himself to revenue generating projects and oversight of several marketing and promotions endeavors.

A Brooklyn native, Sanchez graduated from Brooklyn College with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business, Management and Finance in 2007, and earned his Master of Science in Business Economics in 2012.  He returned to the college and earned a secondary Master of Science Degree in Sports Management in June of 2016.
