Katie Flynn of the College of Staten Island’s women’s softball team has been named the Female Player of the Month for April.
 
The 5-10 freshman sported a .385 batting average, third best in the CUNYAC, while hitting five homeruns and tallying 33 RBI. The third baseman had a fielding percentage of .954.
 
After helping the team to a 2009 CUNYAC Championship, Flynn was named CUNYAC’s Rookie of the Year. During the season she received three weekly honors for CUNYAC Rookie of the Week.
 
The Dolphins finished the season with a 23-14 record, a CUNYAC Championship and a run in the NCAA Tournament.
