Stephanie Collyer has been chosen as the College of Staten Island’s Female Athlete of the Month for January 2012. The freshman is a member of the women’s swimming and diving team, specializing in diving.
Starting January off against York, the freshman captured two golds in 1M and 3M diving before helping her 200 Free Relay team made up of Priscila Alvarez, Vasiliki Stergiuola and Patricia Velloza to a first place win with a time of 2:14.73. Collyer later added some 1st place wins for the Dolphins against Adelphi University with golds in the 1M and 3M dive. Against Lehman, she again captured two golds in diving while her 200 Freestyle Relay team captured first and bettered their previous time by 7 seconds. In CSI’s final meet in January, Collyer took her skills to swim events rather than diving. In the 200 Yard Medley Relay she aided he team in finishing first with a time of 2:28.61. Swimming in the 100 breaststroke for the first time at CSI, Collyer touched in second with a time of 1:23.95.
